On March 15, 2022, at the Fueang Thong Conference Room, Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Jaroen Jarernnetkul, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Chalat Tipagorngekit and Assistant Professor Suhaidee Sorni, were honored to represent King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in a signing ceremony to formalize an understanding of the high-speed rail curriculum program with CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. in Qingdao, China. This signing took place in an online format through VooV Meeting and aimed to promote knowledge sharing through scientific and technological collaboration, fostering the exchange of science, technology, and culture under the “One Economic Belt, One Road” initiative.

The signing ceremony for the understanding agreement of the high-speed rail teaching program was organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation in Thailand and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China. This agreement was signed with the participation of eight universities from both Thailand and China, including King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, King Mongkut’s University of Technology in North Bangkok, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Suranaree University of Technology, and Chiang Mai University.

CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. is a company with a significant role in China’s and the global railway industry. They are focused on developing rail transportation systems and high-speed rail travel. However, the signing of the understanding agreement for the high-speed rail curriculum program represents an effort to enhance and develop the capabilities of both personnel and students in the field of civil engineering and rail systems at the Faculty of Engineering, Sriwijaya University. This is done to produce graduates who meet the needs of the transportation labor market and to align with the national strategy for the development of high-speed rail in Thailand, making it more robust and secure in the future.
