The U2T project at Khlong RI sub-district aimed to create and value added for the Klong Ri community, benefiting both Thai and foreign tourists. The project included the major initiative known as “Khlong RI Street Art” and the establishment of the Community Development Fund. These endeavors have had several positive impacts, including job creation within the community, the generation of income for villagers, and significant improvements in the quality of life for the Klong Ri community. They have also boosted self-esteem, leading to the formation of people’s organizations aimed at managing the local culture. This has fostered opportunities for learning and cultural exchanges between the local residents and visitors as shown below.
Moreover, these projects have raised environmental awareness and fostered conservation efforts as displayed . They have also had a political aspect, encouraging community involvement and the responsible management of tourism rights. The community has gained the ability to negotiate benefits with external stakeholders, including the Klong Ri Community and the Khlong Ri Subdistrict Administration Organization. These efforts have contributed to shaping the direction and development of the community tourism plan, resulting in the establishment of six tourist destinations:
Khlong RI Street Art
1) Conservation: Rafting Lae Lay, visiting Kham Hiang Island, and releasing fish.
