Office of Innovation Management and Technology Transfer (IMTT) of RUTS pioneers the promotion of startup company that emerge from research and innovation developed in the university. IMTT arranged several projects e.g. “Train the Trainer RUTS Boot Camp” to encourage students to gain knowledges and experience on startup concept and used to created an innovative business idea. Moreover, IMTT arrange several courses and activities in regards to spin offs startup/companies focusing in these following three aspects,

1. To train students and encourage them to be an entrepreneur by using researches and innovations of  RUTS.

2. To nurturing and supporting alumni of RUTS, as well as local startups and companies, by offering a range of activities and services designed to foster their growth, development, and success in their early stages.

3. To license technology from a public research institute and university, allowing the legal transfer of intellectual property and technology from the academic and research setting to external parties, typically with the intention of further development, production, or commercialization.

The outcomes from the projects of IMTT in order to create University spin offs is shown in Table 1.

RUTS also encouraged staffs and students to gain experience in startup by supporting them to join the competition e.g., “Startup Thailand League” organized by National Innovation Agency (NIA). In 2022, 3 innovation projects were qualified for the final of the competition (Figure 1). This event has given a great experience and motivation to those participants.

The intellectual property and commercial technology transfer section at IMTT has engaged in negotiations with entrepreneurs as part of the innovation project titled “IoT-controlled Split Gill (Schizophyllum commune) cultivation system with 5-Aminolevulinic acid to accelerate growth,” funded by the National Innovation Agency (NIA). This project pertains to intellectual property related to the topic “Method for producing fermented fish containing 5-aminolevulinic acid”, held by the operator, TKCL Company Limited. The agreement includes compensation for the exercise of rights amounting to 100,000 Baht for a duration of 2 years.
