At present, Thailand is experiencing a rapid increase in the elderly population, with both the number and proportion of older adults steadily rising. Reducing inequality among the elderly can be achieved through the establishment of a strong welfare system, the promotion of employment and income generation, the development of an accessible healthcare system, and the creation of age-friendly environments.
The Faculty of Management Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, recognizes the importance of enhancing the quality of life for older adults by promoting lifelong learning to foster awareness and self-development among the elderly. In this regard, the Faculty organized the Second New Generation Social Entrepreneurs Development Project on February 23, 2024. The objective of the project was to cultivate entrepreneurs capable of addressing social and environmental issues in a sustainable manner. Moreover, it aimed to strengthen the skills and knowledge of emerging entrepreneurs and to promote awareness of personal and social responsibility.
Participants in the training program included not only university students but also elderly learners from the School for Older Adults in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. In addition to acquiring business-related knowledge, elderly participants also gained an understanding of how to use social media for business purposes and how to engage with online platforms safely.
This project not only supports the national policy of promoting lifelong learning among older adults but also provides them with entrepreneurial knowledge and experiences. Furthermore, it fosters a sense of self-worth, and contributes to both physical and mental well-being among the elderly.
