RUTS’ sustainable consumption and production endeavors are focused on development both internally and in supporting entrepreneurial activities related to RUTS. One critical aspect in promoting sustainable consumption is the reduction of single-use packaging. RUTS adhere to a policy aimed at reducing the use of single-use packaging and promotes this practice formally to affiliated entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs operating coffee shops within RUTS play a pivotal role in the reduction of single-use packaging (evidence I). Furthermore, RUTS promote the reduction of single-use packaging in the catering for seminars and events outsourced by the university (evidence II) .

Evidence I: Entrepreneurs operating coffee shops within RUTS

RUTS and these entrepreneurs collaborate on activities that offer discounts to customers who bring reusable containers when purchasing products. This process has been implemented across all RUTS campuses, resulting in a reduction of single-use packaging by more than 15%.

Evidence II: catering for seminars and events by outsources

Food catering for seminars or site visits organized by organizations affiliated with RUTS is encouraged to reduce the use of single-use packaging and transition to reusable containers.
