News 1 – RUTS Strengthens Institutional Governance through the University Council

The current President of the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya Council is Professor Emeritus Dr. Piemsak Menasveta, who was appointed pursuant to an announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister dated March 23, 2025 (effective from March 20, 2025).

Pursuant to Section 15 of the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya Act, B.E. 2548 (2005), each university shall have a University Council, consisting of:

(1) A President of the University Council, who shall be appointed by Royal Command.

(2) Ex-officio members of the University Council, namely the President of the University and the Chairperson of the Faculty and Civil Servant Council.

(3) Six members of the University Council, selected from among those holding the positions of Vice President, Dean, Director of an Institute, Director of an Office, Director of a College, or heads of other administrative units with a status equivalent to a faculty.

(4) Six members of the University Council, selected from among the university’s full-time faculty members and civil servants in higher education institutions who do not hold any of the positions specified in (3).

(5) Fourteen qualified members of the University Council, who shall be appointed by Royal Command from individuals outside the university, upon the recommendation of the President of the University Council and the members of the University Council specified in (2), (3), and (4). These qualified members must possess knowledge and expertise in the fields of science and technology, law, budgeting and finance, human resource management, education, economics, and social sciences—with at least one representative for each field—as well as in other areas deemed appropriate by the University Council.

The University Council shall appoint one Vice President. A person who is not a member of the University Council under (3) shall serve as the Secretary to the University Council, upon the recommendation of the President.

The University Council shall elect one of its qualified (external) members to serve as the Vice-Chair of the University Council. The Vice-Chair shall act on behalf of the Chair of the University Council whenever the Chair is unable to perform their duties or when the position of the Chair is vacant.

The qualifications, criteria, and procedures for the selection of the Chair of the University Council and the qualified (external) members of the University Council—as well as the qualifications of those eligible to vote, and the criteria and procedures for the election of University Council members under (3) and (4)—shall be governed by the regulations of the University.

News 2 – RUTS Promotes Student Representation through the 2025 Student Organization Election

The Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) promotes student representation to manage operational benefits and student welfare.

Official election results for the President of the Student Organization, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, for the 2025 academic year.

The election took place on February 26, 2025, via an online Google Form.
