Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), serving as the lead institution of a network of nine Rajamangala Universities of Technology (RUTS), implemented a research initiative entitled “Application and Scaling Up of Appropriate Technologies to Enhance Capabilities and Social Opportunities for Targeted Low-Income Populations in Strategic Research Areas.” The initiative was financially supported by the Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development (PMU-A) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), Thailand. Its primary purpose was to alleviate poverty, reduce social inequality, and enhance economic and social mobility through the application of appropriate technologies, research, and innovation. The program targeted seven strategic research provinces: Lampang, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Phatthalung, Pattani, and Yala. A key activity was the development of the RMUT Innovation Management Platform (RinMP), a digital platform designed to systematically collect, manage, and facilitate access to available technologies, innovations, and research-based knowledge developed across the RMUT network. The platform was developed from RUTS’s existing innovation community management system and aimed to connect researchers, technology owners, local communities, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate technology transfer and adoption. The initiative also emphasized identifying the needs of low-income households, improving access to occupational training and learning opportunities, and promoting technologies suitable for local socioeconomic conditions. The key outcome was the establishment of a collaborative framework and innovation management platform to support more effective dissemination and scaling of appropriate technologies. The initiative involved nine universities and seven strategic provinces, providing a foundation for improving occupational skills, agricultural productivity, household income opportunities, and long-term poverty reduction. Overall, RinMP represents an institutional mechanism for strengthening inclusive innovation, promoting equitable access to technology, and supporting sustainable community development.
