Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya places significant emphasis on fostering innovative academic initiatives with the dual purpose of creating business opportunities and advancing research to enhance spatial and economic value. This commitment aligns with the overarching vision of the university, which is “Innovations for Society”. This vision necessitates active engagement with the broader community, as articulated in the institution’s 20-year long-term strategic plan. The initial 5-year phase of this plan has been designated as the “Innovative University” stage, geared towards promoting stable regional development. In furtherance of this vision, the Office of Innovation Management and Technology Transfer (IMTT) was established in 2021 as shown in Figure 1. The IMTT is dedicated to delivering academic services, organizing intellectual property, facilitating innovation, and enabling the transfer of technology to both local businesses and commercial industries. Furthermore, it aspires to empower the broader society towards self-sufficiency while concurrently fostering and endorsing the domains of arts, culture, and local wisdom. The university endeavors to serve as a center for societal education, enhancing its own capacity in research and innovation. These initiatives, in turn, enable the university to play an active role in advancing national strategies and optimizing organizational efficiency to adapt to the evolving dynamics of contemporary and future society.

Henceforth, the provision of academic services to the community is a central objective of the University’s operational framework. The institution has carefully crafted a policy underlying its strategic development that aims to promote innovation in academic services, thereby creating business prospects, disseminating knowledge, and ensuring sustainable improvement of society. In keeping with this mission, the University actively encourages the advancement of research, invention, and innovation. Such efforts not only foster ingenuity but also facilitate the transition of innovative concepts, inventions, and technologies into businesses and industries. The resulting outcomes are twofold: increasing product value and reducing production costs. Additionally, this initiative promotes the creation of new career opportunities and serves as an alternative path for aspiring entrepreneurs and individuals working in engineering, agriculture, among other fields. The university has assigned specific faculties and colleges the responsibility of providing academic services to society and local communities. This collaborative approach aims to promote community development in terms of academic and knowledge enrichment while strengthening community adaptation. It integrates academic services with the institution’s broader teaching and research objectives, facilitating the transfer of experiential knowledge from service delivery into the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning methods.
