Details (English):

As a public university, RUTS not only provides educational services within its campus but also serves as a research and development institution dedicated to addressing local issues. Agriculture, a prominent occupation among Thai farmers, is of particular importance. The valuable expertise, technology, and innovation have been acquired through the research endeavors of RUTS’s researchers, supported by the national funding agencies such as the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and the Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI). To facilitate the efficient transfer of knowledge and technology from researchers to the local community and farmers, demonstration farms play a crucial role. This allows people to acquire and customize this knowledge to their own needs.

The Faculty of Agriculture at RUTS Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus (Saiyai area) manages various agricultural demonstration farms. These include 2 learning centers.

  1. Learning Center (Training Hub) for the Development and Transfer of Modern Agricultural Technology designed as an exemplary smart and organic pepper farm is organized by Dr. Napassawan Liamnimitr, Dr. Rattana Unjan, Asst.Prof.Dr. Sudanai Krualee, Mr. Ugrit Chammari, and Mr. Arthit Sawasdiraksa. This educational facility showcases an automated water control system for the farm and production of fertilizers and pesticides from naturally materials.
  2. Demonstration aquaculture farm is managed by Dr. Kittichon U-taynapun and the AquaBiot team. This learning center acts like the model showed the precise aquaculture with recycling water system and zero waste. This learning center serves as a demonstration of a highly efficient aquaculture system, highlighting principles of water recycling, zero waste, and biological control

Both learning centers within the premises of the RUTS Nakhon Si Thammarat Campus, offer agricultural and community members the opportunity to study and observe as exemplars at no cost. Moreover, researchers can provide information, sharing the ecosystem to yield livelihood benefits and enhance learning. In addition, these farms and learning centers are committed to the principles of sustainable agriculture and food safety, emphasizing the use of natural substances in lieu of antibiotics and chemical fertilizers. These farms are open to the public, offering accessible and cost-effective educational opportunities. As a result, local people and farmers are encouraged to visit and gain knowledge from these resources.

The actual on-site or model location work facilitates not only visits but also the exchange of knowledge and experience among farmers. These learning centers serve as spaces for knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts between the university and the community.
