Asst. Prof. Dr. Suwat Rattanapan and Asst. Prof. Jutatip Makmanee Treitler recently showcased a commercial-oriented research innovation aimed at sustainable waste utilization. The presentation focused on eco-friendly boxing ring floor mats made from natural rubber blended with natural fibers and recycled waste materials. This milestone event took place on 10 April 2025 at the Siva Royal Hotel in Phatthalung Province. The showcase was part of the Intellectual Property Management Project designed to enhance professional IP standards and technology transfer at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS). Specifically, the presentation was conducted under Activity 5: Young Smart Innovation & IP Camp, supported by the Reinventing University higher education excellence and high-level manpower development program.

The research and production methodology involved preparing innovative sponge rubber mixed with valuable agricultural and industrial waste, specifically sawdust and ground old car tires. These residual materials were meticulously processed and molded into high-durability floor mats tailored specifically for professional boxing ring applications. Demonstrating real-world commercial viability, these innovative mats are currently implemented and actively used at the Phumiphat Boxing Stadium in Nakhon Si Thammarat. The project presentation successfully engaged an audience of 35 participants during the camp. This audience profile comprised university lecturers, entrepreneurs, students, and local citizens interested in sustainable green technology and commercial innovation.

This successful research initiative highlights Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya's active policies and operational excellence in waste management and resource recovery through science and technology. By transforming industrial and agricultural waste into high-value commercial products, the project actively reduces environmental burdens and promotes a robust circular economy. The development underscores RUTS's commitment to steering academic research toward practical applications that benefit both industry and society. Furthermore, it validates the university's capacity to foster cutting-edge research and innovation that addresses critical environmental challenges through eco-friendly engineering. Ultimately, the project reinforces RUTS's strategic vision of driving sustainable development through creative waste reduction technologies and effective commercial technology transfer.
