Trang Aquarium, located on the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) campus, serves as an educational resource for freshwater ecosystem conservation and public awareness. In support of SDG 14, Indicator 14.2.1 (Outreach and Engagement), the aquarium promotes understanding of freshwater biodiversity and the sustainable use of aquatic resources.
The aquarium provides educational programs for local communities, school students, and the general public. Guided visits include lectures by aquarium staff on freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity conservation. The exhibits comprise two main sections:
–Indoor exhibits: Freshwater fish native to Thailand, including rare and endangered species.
–Outdoor exhibits: A large-scale representation of a freshwater ecosystem that illustrates aquatic habitats and their ecological importance.
In addition, an educational exhibition on aquatic plants was organized to share knowledge about aquatic plant diversity and raise awareness of natural resource conservation. The exhibition featured educational activities on aquatic plant biology, basic aquascaping, and hands-on aquarium setup. The activities attracted considerable interest from tourists and visitors. The event aimed to enhance understanding of aquatic plant species, life cycles, and ecosystems while promoting the conservation of freshwater resources and native aquatic plants.
