Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), in collaboration with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), the Marine Science Association of Thailand, and partner organizations, hosted the 8th Marine Science Conference under the theme “Science, Technology, and Innovation for a Changing Ocean” on 25 June 2025 at Rua Rasada Hotel, Mueang District, Trang Province.
The conference provided a platform for faculty members, researchers, students, government agencies, private-sector organizations, and the public to present academic research and exchange knowledge and experience in marine science, innovation, and marine technology to support sustainable development.

The conference also aimed to strengthen preparedness for the Triple Planetary Crisis facing humanity: (1) climate change, (2) biodiversity loss, and (3) pollution and waste. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires integrated collaboration among all sectors, including government agencies, the private sector, independent organizations, local authorities, communities, and the public, to accelerate effective action and achieve tangible, sustainable outcomes.

The program featured more than 10 panel discussions on marine and coastal resource conservation, research, restoration, and development, led by experts from diverse sectors and disciplines. Academic presentations were also delivered in oral and poster sessions across four thematic areas, covering the broad scope of marine and coastal resource research.

The organizers are deeply honored by the gracious support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, President of the Foundation for the Conservation of Thai Coral Reefs and Marine Life, who graciously bestowed awards on outstanding oral and poster presentations. This royal recognition is a great honor and an important source of encouragement for researchers working to conserve marine and coastal resources.
The conference also supports Thailand’s National Strategy, which envisions a secure, prosperous, and sustainable nation with a developed economy and society guided by the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. This philosophy provides a valuable framework for sustainable marine and coastal resource management, emphasizing a balance between human activities and nature to ensure lasting benefits for both present and future generations.
