Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) has established policies and wastewater reducing guidelines for ecosystem protection, in accordance with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s wastewater management regulations issued in 2005.

The following wastewater management standards and guidelines are established to protect public health and the environment:
–Building staff responsible for wastewater treatment systems must receive appropriate training and certification in accordance with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s wastewater management regulations.
–Wastewater treatment systems must be inspected and cleaned by qualified personnel every six months.
–All wastewater treatment equipment and machinery, including aerators, treatment pond covers, and sewage pumps, must be regularly inspected and maintained by staff. Defective equipment must be promptly repaired or replaced.

Moreover, RUTS Trang Campus operates a waste and wastewater treatment system that employs plant-based filtration systems. This approach offers a low-cost, sustainable treatment option for communities, businesses, and institutions.
The system uses several aquatic and terrestrial plants, including Typha angustifolia, Cyperus involucratus, Eichhornia crassipes, Pandanus amaryllifolius, and Chrysopogon zizanioides. These plants help remove pollutants through filtration and uptake, thereby improving wastewater quality.
