On 5 June 2025, the Southern Center for Technology Transfer in Waste Disposal and Wastewater Treatment under the Royal Initiative, together with the Resource and Environmental Management Program, Faculty of Science and Technology of Fisheries, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV), Trang Campus, and partner organizations, organized World Environment Day activities under the local theme “Empowering Youth to Address the Global Boiling Crisis.” The event took place at the Phan Tri Phian Chan Suep Si Meeting Room at RMUTSV, Trang Campus.

Mr. Manit Tha Chin, Sikao District Chief, presided over the opening ceremony. Participants included Assistant Professor Sitthichok Chan Yong, Vice President for Trang Campus, university executives, lecturers, staff, university students, and primary and secondary school students from Sikao District. The activities aimed to foster environmental awareness among young people, promote waste reduction, segregation, and reuse, and encourage participation in natural resource conservation and climate action.

The event featured exhibition booths supported by 17 organizations, waste segregation learning activities, knowledge sharing on the reuse of recyclable waste and discarded materials, a costume competition using waste materials, and a panel discussion on “Empowering Youth to Address the Global Boiling Crisis.” Tree seedlings were also distributed for participants to plant and care for, encouraging the expansion of green spaces.

Ms. Bunchongrak Chio Tan, Manager of the Southern Technology Transfer Center, emphasized the need to raise awareness of the impacts of increasing greenhouse gas concentrations and to engage young people in environmental protection. Mr. Manit Tha Chin encouraged participants to begin with everyday actions, including reducing waste, separating household waste, choosing reusable materials, and planting trees.

The activities provided opportunities for young people and other participants to learn about environmental issues through exhibitions and practical learning activities. They also brought partner organizations together to promote waste reduction and action against plastic pollution, in line with the World Environment Day 2025 theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” and Thailand’s slogan, translated as “Use Plastic Wisely for a Sustainable Thailand.”

The available information confirms exhibition support from 17 organizations. The total number of participants, the amount of waste reduced, and learning assessment results were not reported.
