On 16 October 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), in collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), and Chulalongkorn University, lunched the project “Survey and Assessment of Mangrove Biodiversity to Establish a National Database and Develop Climate Finance Mechanisms.”

The project will begin with a pilot study in the mangrove forests of Trang Province before expanding nationwide. Its primary objective is to establish a standardized national database of mangrove biodiversity to support future marine and coastal resource management. Key activities include biodiversity surveys and assessments, economic valuation of resource use in mangrove areas, and the development of spatial databases. These efforts will support biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources. The knowledge will be transferred into business practice by providing biodiversity advisory services to companies seeking to restore ecosystems in their areas of operation.
